Welcome to the first issue of HETNET Magazine!

We created this magazine and website for the purpose of informing and educating the enterprise about the heterogeneous network (HetNet), with a focus on key HetNet components: distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cells.

I expand the definition of HetNet to include public-safety in-building wireless infrastructure; public-safety DAS and cellular DAS often share infrastructure, and with the advent of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), I believe this expanded definition makes sense—at least for our audience. Moreover, a large segment of our target audience is just as concerned about in-building public-safety coverage as they are about cellular coverage and capacity.

I expect the bulk of our readership to include IT and facility management of office buildings, hospitals, universities, corporations, and public venues. Recognizing that our target readers are not HetNet techies, we convey our content in layperson’s language, with a focus on what matters most to the enterprise.

We’ve got a great concept in mind—a digital publication with the readability and flair of a print magazine, accessible from anywhere and coupled with a website that provides daily updates and interactive content, including polls, surveys, curated content, downloads, webinars, video tutorials, and so much more.

Our first issue may be small, but the quantity of content will grow each month. You’ll find our magazine refreshingly free of self-promoting “byline articles.” Instead, readers will discover articles and other content that have been carefully crafted to provide the insight they seek—as well as plenty of eureka moments!

I hope you’ll share our website content with your colleagues and encourage them to subscribe to our magazine. Also, I’d love your feedback on this premiere issue as well as our magazine and website in general. Please email me at editor@hetnetmag.com.

Enjoy this issue!

PS: We’re always looking for passionate writers and prognosticators who can help us achieve our mission. If you’re interested in contributing, please visit our website at hetnetmag.com/contribute.
